Into the RS Vault: Special Events

An easy choice to kick things off - the latest iteration of a recent RS tradition, Season 11's Tier List Announcement stream was the most comprehensive review of an upcoming season yet, and is essential viewing for RSXI players looking to discover info about their opponents. Herbie, Aarontair and Doomato all featured on camera and submitted their season predictions.

The most recent VOD of SE's most frequent Snap Tournament, the third International Snap featured 16 teams and was won by Barbados, as they defeated Venezuela 2-0 in the BO3 final. There's no stream at Sundays Esport quite like the International Snaps, a 2-3 hour dash to name a champion with improving production value with each season that passes.

As part of the Sundays Esport/Slipstream partnership, a handful of ECC matches have made their way onto Sundays screens in the past - perhaps the most famous of all being a rekindling of the long-standing rivalry between Snake Bite and Ascension, with their rosters meeting in the Division 2 playoffs of Season 7. The resulting match was an entertaining BO7 that went the distance, and is well worth a rewatch for 3v3 aficionados.

Hosted by the traditional trio of Doomato, Aarontair and Herbie, the Coalition Cup show was an ambitious attempt at combining prerecorded and live footage. The 2+ hour stream featured recapped highlights of matches that had occurred earlier in the week, alongside analysis of Ballchasing stats and coverage of live fixtures, and the format has never been repeated since for the sheer strain it placed on SE's small production team.

A simplistic yet groundbreaking event that marked the beginning of the short-lived Coalition Cup, Herbie and Doomato described the action as 10 franchise captains filled their rosters from the four pools of available players. Hot Cross Bunnies was always a favourite of the team that worked to create franchises with a Sundays twist.

A lower-key affair than its RSXI counterpart, the Season 8 Tier List Announcement stream was the first of its kind in league history, as Herbie and Doomato ran down the S8 participating rosters - and yet while the graphics and content may have changed, the spirit of the stream remains very much the same 18 months on.

The second edition of the Pentathlon Cup concluded in the midst of Rocket Sundays' seventh season, between (at the time) current and former Master Tier teams. The series was played in five different gamemodes (Hoops, Snow Day, Dropshot, Rumble and Standard) with the winner not being the team with the most game wins, but the team who scored the most goals on aggregate in the entire series. The format was thrilling to watch, and was a huge favourite of the burgeoning Sundays community.

The QuickFire Cup, a 16 team knockout competition intended to take place between seasons 4 and 5 of Rocket Sundays, ended up being concluded much later - but it was worth the wait. Recognizable rosters Fusion and Calculated would end up participating in the first Game 7 in Sundays history, long before any tier finals matched the feat. Eventually, Elite Tier CALC prevailed over Challenger Tier FSN in the decider of a remarkable series.

In an era where the SE community was predominantly English, three rosters representing Sundays Esport participated in the Rocket Kingdom Rising Stars competition, a nationwide league that only ever occurred once, and introduced new players to the community. Roast vs Drivers is the sole SE-streamed meeting between two Sundays rosters, and was unsurprisingly a big win for the higher ranked Roast side - but the match remains an important marker in Sundays lore.

A rare event in early Sundays history that saw 16 players participate in a unique knockout-formatted lobby, eliminating individuals one by one before a champion emerged, with three casters in the booth. An intriguing mixture of gameplay from 1v1 up to 4v4, with plenty of backstabbing that flipped the script.

Perhaps the earliest effort at curated content in Sundays Esport, Rocket Recap was the brainchild of former admins Gutbuster (before he rose to Sundaybot fame!) and ChesusChrist, and discussed a week of Season 3 league play to a backdrop of music and highlights. The format was unfortunately short-lived, submitting just one additional episode before being shelved.
